Stress Managment – Care-Free Days Are Just What You Make Them…Have Fun

02/05/2013 By Linda Hampton Leave a Comment

Stop acting your ageHow long has it been since you participated in activities that you enjoy?  Children live from one fun moment to another.  We grow up, lose our imagination and sense of play.  Life gets serious…too serious.  Yes there are moments that we need to act like adults, take charge and handle things, but we should never lose our sense of adventure, wonder and play.

Everyone gets stressed out at some point. Whether it’s due to pressure from your boss, a major event in your life like getting married or the death of a loved one, financial worries or something else entirely, you will invariably suffer from stress. So, it’s good to know some fun ways that you can relieve some of the tension during those stressful times in your life

Isn’t it time to find reasons to laugh everyday?

Here’s the bonus when you…  Interact with people who make you laugh to reduce tension and boost the immune system

 Here’s some fun idea:

Go outside.

Spending a day outside breaths life into a dull or boring time. We are not geared for sitting around.  Have you ever noticed when you’ve sat home like a couch potato you feel a little down but the moment you go outside your spirits lift?  Nature has a funny way of making us feel calmer.

Hang out with your pet.

Nicki my dog and Josh my cat were always happy.  Never seemed to get bored with themselves and just offering a pet on the head made their tails wag or in the case of Josh her purring grow louder.

Listen to some upbeat music.

According to a study done by TempleUniversity listening to music can decrease blood pressure, heart rate and anxiety.  It brings back memories of more carefree times.  And it just makes you just feel good.

Playwork:

Make a list of all the things you like to do as a child

  • Finger Painting
  • Jacks
  • Hula hoop (I just got a new one last month and I bet if I took a video of me using it, it would get a good laugh out of you)
  • Hop Scotch
  • Yo Yo
  • Jump Rope

If you have children plan to do this activity with the kids.  Get them involved.  And Just go have fun!

So what are you going to do to have fun today?
