Simple Strategies to Discover Inner Peace and Happiness

09/01/2013 By Linda Hampton 3 Comments

“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make with ourselves.” – Dalai Lama.

inner peace The very mention of “inner peace” invigorates the feeling of happiness, relaxation, and calmness. However, very rarely people identify the secret to inner peace. It is a state of mind where you are in perfect equilibrium – your thoughts and actions are stable, you feel profound happiness in what you are doing, everything is done in a balanced way. Inner peace is when you are in harmony with yourself and with the world around you. Everybody strives to pursue inner peace, but only a few attain success. Here are the strategies to discover inner peace and make your life better.

Accept your limitations

No human being is perfect. Everybody has certain limitations, and inner peace lies in accepting the same positively. You can, in no way, fight the reality. Certain things will never change; they are your limitations. Instead of battling with them in your subconscious or pretending to be perfect, accept what you are and move on. For instance, if you wish to be 6 feet tall and has lagged behind by a few inches, there is nothing that you can do about it. It’s better to accept the reality and be happy with what you are instead of cribbing around and spoiling your inner peace.

Keep your conscience clear

When you do something, keep your conscience clear, at least to yourself, as to why you are doing that thing.  If you’re not clear you will only spoil your happiness and peace, and actually change nothing about what has already been done. So, before you do something or say something to others, be confident and clear in your conscience thoughts.  You might often find it difficult, but that is the secret to achieve inner peace. Keep your conscience clear and replace your negative thoughts with more peaceful, optimistic ones and you can unlock the hidden happiness beneath.

Be kind

The world is getting to be a difficult place to live in indeed, but kindness and generosity pays off well. When you find yourself being kind to others, accepting their faults and limitations easily, you will unfold more happiness and peace in your own life in finding others happy. Being kind and generous to others has a certain charm that will fill your heart with happiness and contentment and allows you to find pleasure and bliss that you may not have been expecting. When you give generously, you tend to forget about yourself. And it is only when you stop being totally self serving that you attain true peace and harmony in life.

Appreciate your blessings

Be happy and contented with what you have. Appreciate the blessings that the Almighty has bestowed upon you. This way you will discover inner peace and attain happiness and prosperity. Being jealous of what others have or selfishness will eat at our mind body and spirit, and only you will be blamed for it. So, try to appreciate what you have, respect others and you will find discover peace and happiness within yourself.

Finding inner peace is easier than you think.  You only have to look inside yourself and peace will be with you.

I appreciate these tips. But of the four, I’d say having a clear conscience and accepting our limitations are both key to living a stress-free life. This is a lesson I need to learn.
